Meeting with BC government officials in Victoria

On April 7 and 8, MoveUP executive board members – led by President Annette Toth, Secretary-Treasurer Brenda Chu, and our Vice-Presidents Rysa Kronebusch, Dimitri Ossinsky, and Christy Slusarenko – were in Victoria to meet with government officials from both the Official Opposition and the BC NDP caucus to discuss issues that are vital to the industries that our members work in.

Supporting our members’ work goes far beyond handling grievances or even bargaining collective agreements. It is important for our union to look at the bigger picture to understand how the political landscape affects our members’ work. But, also, to meet with government officials to discuss our concerns and advocate for things government needs to do to protect and support our members.

Among the critical issues that we discussed included public transit, post-secondary education, child care, labour rights, clean energy, and ICBC.
