MoveUP proudly endorses NDP’s Vanessa Sharma in the Cloverdale-Langley City riding in the 2025 federal election

MoveUP is proud to endorse NDP candidate Vanessa Sharma in the Cloverdale-Langley City riding in the 2025 federal election.

Vanessa is a former MoveUP member during her time working with BC Hydro and FortisBC, respectively, and has a long history of advocating for the rights of MoveUP members in various roles within our union including as a job steward and an executive councillor.

“Our union is very proud to see Vanessa put her name forward again to run in Cloverdale-Langley City riding after first doing so in the by-election last year,” said Annette Toth, president of MoveUP. “Since that by-election ended, Vanessa has continued to connect with members of the Cloverdale-Langley City community, listening to peoples’ stories and their concerns. She is determined to bring their issues to Ottawa so she can help people in that community, whether it’s dealing with cost-of-living, affordable housing, access to healthcare, access to childcare, having a clean environment, and more.”

In addition to her activism as part of MoveUP, Vanessa has been a long-time advocate for mental health and received our union’s Peter Corren Award in 2021 for her work in that area. She has also represented union members across Canada as an equity vice-president with the Canadian Labour Congress’ Workers of Colour working group.
