World Rivers Day is an ecological observance founded in 2005 by Canadian conservationist Mark Angelo to promote river stewardship and conservation of the world’s rivers.

It falls on the fourth Sunday of September each year. This year, it is Sunday, September 27.

This year’s theme is: Everyone can be a river steward.

British Columbia is home to some wild and beautiful river systems that have carved out canyons and valleys on their journey to sea and lake systems. These waters provide drinking water, transportation routes, and fish to eat, as well as,recreation and enjoyment of their natural beauty.
