MoveUP President Annette Toth and MoveUP member sharing signs of support for women's sports

Proud to support women in sports and the workplace

MoveUP was proud to be an official sponsor of the Cross-Canada Series which saw the WBNA’s Toronto Tempo play two games in Vancouver as well as host the TempoLIVE fan festival from August 21 to 23.

For MoveUP, supporting the Cross-Canada Series goes beyond just a sponsorship. The roots of our union date back to the late 1800s when the women workers at the BC Electric Railway Company formed a social group to organize events and outings. Today most of our union members are women.

Women’s sports are experiencing a historic rise in viewership. We were excited to bring MoveUP members, with their family and friends, to watch the Tempo play their first-ever game in Vancouver! We also had thousands of fans interact with our photo booth during the TempoLIVE fan festival.

By being part of the Cross-Canada Series, we were able to demonstrate our ongoing support of women in professional settings, expand our union’s reach to thousands in-person and millions who watched the games on television, and show everybody that unions like MoveUP do cool things!

We will continue to be a proud supporter of women in sports and the workplace, and an advocate for the rights of all workers!
