Asian Heritage Month

May marks the annual Asian Heritage Month in Canada

MoveUP members come from a wide range of different ethnic backgrounds including many who have Asian heritage whether it’s East Asia (China, Japan, Mongolia, Korea, Taiwan), Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) or Central Asia (Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iraq).

MoveUP’s Multicultural Committee proudly celebrates many different Asian cultural events throughout the calendar year. In the past, we have also paraded at the Lunar New Year Festival and the Vaisakhi Festival. We also have a team that competes at the Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival.

We encourage members who wish to learn more about Asian Heritage Month to visit the Government of Canada’s website.
