Rustad’s ICBC plan means people pay more, get less support

MoveUP President Annette Toth has released the following statement regarding BC Conservative leader John Rustad’s stance on ICBC:

“As an integral part of the BC Liberals, John Rustad was part of a government that nearly decimated public auto insurance in British Columbia.

“Rustad and the BC Conservatives cannot shake their legacy of destruction to our public services, and ICBC was among the public services the BC Liberals did their best to tear down.

“The introduction of Enhanced Care at ICBC by the BC NDP government has meant not only bringing the corporation back to stable financial footing, but drastically lowering insurance costs for British Columbians making our auto insurance one of the lowest in Canada and providing access to care without the need for lengthy legal battles.

“John Rustad wants to resurrect the old BC Liberals’ version of ICBC which means increased costs for all of us, less access to recovery options, and requiring people who are injured to go through the legal system if they are injured.

“Enhanced Care at ICBC puts people before profits and helps to make life more affordable for people in BC.”
