MoveUP stands with WAVAW this Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the holiday season. This year, MoveUP will be joining thousands of other Canadians in observing Giving Tuesday on November 27, 2018.

This year, MoveUP welcomed the staff at WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre into our union.

WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre is a non-profit charitable organization that formed in 1982 in response to the high-demand for support services for survivors of sexual assault. For 36 years, WAVAW has supported survivors through free-of-charge services including a 24-hour Crisis Line, group and one-to-one counselling, and hospital and court accompaniment programs.

WAVAW is committed to ensuring survivors of sexualized violence receive the care and support that they deserve. This Giving Tuesday, MoveUP is inviting the community to demonstrate their support of survivors by raising $20,000 to connect survivors to critical support services.

  • $25 provides 1 hour of Crisis Line Support
  • $100 provides 2 hours of one-to-one counselling
  • $250 accompanies 2 survivors to the hospital

MoveUP is proud to stand with WAVAW and to support survivors of sexualized violence this Giving Tuesday.
