The Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union Local 378 (COPE 378) has rebranded as MoveUP, The Movement of United Professionals, to reflect members’ pride in their work and their commitment to making positive change in their communities.

“MoveUP is modern organization uniting professionals for progress and prosperity,” said MoveUP President David Black. “Our members are professionals in their fields and our new identity better aligns with our purpose: to invite people in and move forward with determination together.”

MoveUP sought input from members, staff, professionals and the executive board in developing a new name that better represented its 12,000 union members at public and private sector companies in British Columbia and Western Canada.

“MoveUP is a diverse, progressive, member-driven organization that protects members’ rights and empowers them to unite for better workplaces, communities and society as a whole,” said Black. “We’re modern, we’re strong, we’re united and we’re on your side, and that’s why we’re changing our name.”

The union will be doing business as MoveUP as of Monday, Nov. 9, 2015. The relationship with the COPE/SEPB national union will remain unchanged and the legal name will remain local 378 of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union.
