Brenda Rovner posthumously named Honourary Lifetime Member

October 30, 2021

On the final day of our union’s 2021 Convention, the prestigious status of honourary lifetime membership was conferred posthumously to Brenda Rovner, a passionate activist who we lost on September 7, 2020.

Brenda was someone who touched the lives of everybody she met, and when there was a cause to fight for or rally behind, she would be the most ardent and fervent champion of the cause. She was someone you knew you could count on, and someone that always had your back.

Brenda was a champion of the rights and interests of working people of British Columbia, and she earned the respect of fellow union members and activists through her tireless and unrelenting advocacy for the rights of workers at Capilano University where she spent 32 years. For over 20 years, she was a job steward, an executive councillor, and sat on numerous bargaining committees. The work that she did on behalf of our union, and commitment she had for our members, is something that will be felt for a long time especially for our members at Capilano University.

Brenda was as strong as they came. Her love for family, friends, and colleagues were ever-present as was her zest for life. All of us at MoveUP will carry a little bit of Brenda’s tenacity with us.
