Equity Caucus Groups
MoveUP will be hosting equity caucuses at our convention. We are excited because we know that by embracing our diversity we can break barriers and we will be stronger with more members engaged on the issues that matter to them. These caucuses will bring together equity groups from amongst convention delegates to begin a conversation about our priorities. As we reflect the diversity of voices in our membership we are inviting more people to be involved in making our working lives better, and our communities better.
MoveUP has a very diverse membership and we work in many different jobs and in many different workplaces. Our mission is to unite our members to champion and advance the rights, dignity, and respect of all workers. We do this by organizing and mobilizing workers to strengthen their rights and pursue social justice. Advancing equity helps us create a more respectful and positive union, and helps us address issues that affect all workers in our workplaces.
Each equity caucus will run for 60 minutes and will be chaired by members of that equity group. Delegates may register into the equity groups based on how they self-identify. Many members will be eligible to participate in more than one equity group, which is why they are scheduled at different times on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
The equity caucuses are an opportunity for you to make connections with others in your community and talk about the issues that matter to you. We are holding these meetings prior to convention because it is our hope that the conversations that we have in our equity caucuses will continue the process of making MoveUP stronger.
We look forward to the conversations.

Travel and Accommodations
Important Information:
Unless other requested, air travel will be booked, where available, for the evening of September 11, 2024, after your regularly scheduled shift and returning the afternoon of September 14, 2024. (If you are an out-of-town delegate participating in an Equity Caucus, arrival will be the evening of September 10). Members requesting to travel earlier or later must use their own time, unless there are no other flights available.
The normal method of travel from the Vancouver Island is BC Ferries. If approved, members who request to fly rather than take the ferry will be required to use their own time to cover any additional leave due to flight times, unless taking the ferry would also incur such leave.
All confirmations will be emailed to you once the travel request has been approved and booked. All air travel
MUST
be booked by MoveUP.
Please email
travel@moveuptogether.ca
if you have not received your travel confirmation by August 27, 2024.
