TST-CF – Update on integration of new members into MoveUP collective agreement
July 29, 2021
To: All MoveUP members at TST-CF
We hope all of you have been having a good summer so far. This message is intended specifically for those who were previously not MoveUP members prior to the union vote. If you were already a member before the vote, then this will not affect your status.
Over the last two months, since the vote was counted, we have been trying to connect with your employer to work out the details of integrating our new members into the collective agreement at TST-CF Express. However, the employer has not fulfilled the Canadian Industrial Labour Board (CIRB) requirements, which has stalled this process.
These requirements include:
- Providing new members with union authorization cards (this was supposed to be done by June 24);
- Apply the general provisions of the collective agreement, including rights related to seniority, bumping, scheduling, overtime, etc., to all new members (this was supposed to be done by July 17); and
- Meet and negotiate to bring the wages of new members in line with those of existing members.
As the employer has failed to meet their obligation under the requirements set by the CIRB, our legal team will be filing an Unfair Labour Practice and a Grievance against the employer. Our legal team will seek to have the CIRB appoint a mediator to expedite the process so that all of our new members will get the rights they are entitled to as MoveUP members as quickly as possible.
Thank you to all of you for your patience. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mike at mnovak@moveuptogether.ca or Javed at jsaheb@moveuptogether.ca.
In solidarity,
Mike Novak, Union Representative
Javed Saheb, Union Representative
