Transit Group – Take action with our Fund Transit Now campaign

Last week, we informed you about the launch of our ‘Fund Transit Now’ campaign to ensure our public transit systems can maximize their service levels as much as possible while still following health and safety protocols. We demand that our provincial government and federal government step up with emergency funding so public transit can provide critical services during this crisis and beyond.

Today, we will be pushing out this campaign to the rest of our MoveUP membership. Our union is built by members coming together to support each other. Members, their families, and their communities rely every day on public transit so this will be a cause near and dear to them as well.

We have two requests for you as members in our transit group as we look to expand this campaign in the coming days:

1. Join our Facebook group set up exclusively for MoveUP members in the transit group. This will allow you to connect directly with fellow members, help us generate ideas, and push out social media shareables on your channel.
2. Share your stories. Our campaign will involve sharing stories of front-line workers, including yourselves, and the negative effects that these service cuts will have on you personally. These stories can be either written or through video. They can be emailed to communications@moveuptogether.ca. Please be sure to include your name, job title and employer name, as well as your location, and include a photo if you are submitting a written story. To transfer larger files, we recommend sending a Dropbox link.
