Richmond Cabs Office Closure and Contracting Out

To: MoveUP Members at Richmond Cabs
Your employer served notice last week that they would be closing the Richmond Taxi call centre located at 2440 Shell Road in Richmond on January 31, 2023 and contracting out call-taking and dispatching overseas. Your employer has hired legal counsel to engage in discussions with the union regarding this change.
The union has already filed a grievance on contracting out as it is our position that this constitutes a violation of the collective agreement Articles 2, 6 and 13.
We are endeavoring to meet with your employer’s legal counsel as soon as possible to gain clarity on their plan and how it impacts our members. As your servicing representative Anny Chen is away for the next two weeks, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me in her absence with any questions or concerns.
