MoveUP is pleased to announce that the workers at the UBC Alma Mater Society’s Safewalk have joined our union.

These new union members will be incorporated into the existing collective agreement between MoveUP and the Alma Mater Society and will immediately be entitled to the benefits and protections in the collective agreement.

“We are thrilled to welcome the workers from Safewalk into our union and to grow our presence at the UBC Alma Mater Society,” said MoveUP President Annette Toth. “We have been representing administrative workers at the AMS since 1971 and last year we expanded our certificate at the AMS by adding the workers in food & beverage to our union.

“As we continue to expand our union at AMS and in other sectors, this goes to show that anybody – regardless of what you do for work – can be part of a union.”
