CapU – S54 Notice – CIE

To: All MoveUP members at CapilanoU
The University has served MoveUP with a S54 notice (link here) regarding an anticipated restructuring of the Centre for International Experience. The University has identified declining international student enrolment and the upcoming departure of Chris Bottrill as the reasons for the proposed changes.
The notice does not provide details regarding eliminating positions or any other anticipated impacts, which they would be required to disclose in the notice as per the BC Labour Relations Code. We will be meeting with the University this upcoming Friday (August 28) to obtain further information on proposed changes and advocate for affected members.
