MoveUP announcement

MoveUP members at David Suzuki Foundation ratify their first collective agreement

MoveUP is proud to announce that the workers at the David Suzuki Foundation BC chapter have ratified their first collective agreement.

“We all care deeply about the great work that the David Suzuki Foundation does, and having a strong union presence in our workplace only reinforces the passion we have for the work we do,” said Trevor Leach, a worker at the David Suzuki Foundation.

This landmark agreement, which runs through to August 2028, sets up a new wage grid for workers at the David Suzuki Foundation and will see union members in the BC chapter receive significant and urgently needed pay increases from their current rates. Workers will also be receiving cost-of-living adjustment increases in 2026 and 2027.

“I want to acknowledge the perseverance of our bargaining committee for being able to successfully navigate this extended and challenging process to get to a first collective agreement, which is a tremendous milestone for these workers,” said Annette Toth, President of MoveUP. “Having a collective agreement in place, and the improvements to their working conditions that come with it, demonstrates the advantages that workers, regardless of what industry or sector they work in, have when they join a union and have a union’s support behind them.

“We are now urging the David Suzuki Foundation to get to the bargaining table and get a deal with their Ontario and Quebec chapters, respectively, who are represented by other locals of the Canadian and Office Professional Employees Union.”
