Environment Committee promotes sustainability at Job Steward Seminar

You might have noticed that our Environment Committee isn’t beyond bribery to get our message to our membership.

Leading up to the most recent Job Steward Seminar at Harrison Hot Springs, we challenged our job stewards to bring a reusable item with them. That could be a lanyard from a previous seminar or convention, a reusable cup, or even tent cards.

The incentive was they would be entered into a draw for a $50 gift certificate to be spent at a local garden shop.

With the bee being our committee’s mascot, we encouraged our winner, Bridget Hughes, to buy pollinator friendly plants.

We were so delighted with the turnout to this challenge. We had 105 members enter the draw. That’s a significant number of the 150 job stewards that attended seminar, and it represents 105 items that we saved from the landfill.

Well done, stewards!

The Environment Committee often runs challenges with an incentive attached. The next one is coming up soon. Make sure to follow the MoveUP weekly newsletter to find out what that is.
