ICBC – A wage increase
August 27, 2020
To: All MoveUP members at ICBC
I’m happy to report a little good news today! Starting September 1, we will receive a .78% wage increase. This is the next increase that was agreed to by ICBC and MoveUP in the last round of collective bargaining. The new wage scales can be found on the ICBC Hub as well as on our website.
Our next wage increase is scheduled for March 1, 2021. That increase is set for 1%.
I’m glad to be able to share some positive news in what has otherwise been a very challenging year for everyone.
It is hard to believe that we are still adjusting and adapting to the impact that the COVID-19 virus has put on every single one of us. Who would have thought at the beginning of the year, we would be regularly wearing masks in public, or talking about our personal “bubble”, or even watching sports without any fans in the audience?
And the changes are happening in our work too. We have gone from in-person meetings to having to figure out multiple online meeting platforms. Some of us are working at home, while others are working in buildings that are three quarters empty most of the time. Still others are having to wear layers of personal protective equipment to ensure they are safe and so are the public.
I want all of you to know that we continue to work diligently to fix problems and address your concerns, whether they are a result of the coronavirus pandemic or not. Your worries are our worries, and your priorities are our priorities. That is what it means to be part of our union – we will always care about one another. As union members we will get through this difficult era of COVID-19 together.
In solidarity,
Annette Toth, Vice-President
