BURNABY – The union representing 400 office, administrative and support staff at Coast Mountain Bus has reached a tentative agreement with the employer.
The Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, local 378 (MoveUP) had recently been granted a 91 per cent strike vote by its members at Coast Mountain Bus, due to an attack on health and other benefits in retirement.
In this tentative agreement Coast Mountain Bus withdraws the attack on retirement benefits. If the agreement is ratified, the issue will go to a committee made up of members from the union and management, which will be tasked with reviewing benefit plans in order to save money while ensuring plan members have fair coverage.
The term of the tentative agreement is from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2015. If the agreement is accepted a retroactive wage increase of 2 per cent would date from April, 2013 and another 2 per cent increase would come into effect April 1, 2014.
The union’s bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of tentative agreement to their members. The agreement will now go to MoveUP’s CMBC members for ratification. The vote will be finalized by Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
