Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year from President David Black

I join all of the Elected Officers and MoveUP staff in wishing our members and their families a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays for those observing other celebrations this season.

Over the past month MoveUP’s Social Event and Planning Committee co-ordinated a few very successful holiday events. Our “Brunch with Santa” in Victoria filled right up as MoveUP members and their children attended for face painting and other entertainment. A similar event in Burnaby gave many members a chance to meet and greet and spend time with their kids. Members in Port Hardy were enjoyed the third annual Ice Skate with Santa. Vice-President Heather Lee also hosted at member social in Victoria to celebrate the season.

During this holiday season many MoveUP members decided to get into the spirit of the season by doing something to help the less fortunate. Even as many members wrapped up their workplace United Way campaigns, they dug deeper and found more ways to support their community. The social Event and Planning Committee would like to thank everyone who gave admission to the “Brunch with Santa” events: a donation of non-perishable food for the food bank and a toy to be donated to a local children’s charity. It was very much appreciated and will go a long way towards making others’ holidays a bit brighter. It is heartwarming to represent people who have poured so much generosity into supporting their communities.

In closing, I’d like to wish you and your loved ones a warm, relaxing and happy holiday season.

In solidarity,

David Black, MoveUP President
