New Deal for MoveUP Members at Columbia Valley Credit Union

MoveUP members at Columbia Valley Credit Union in Golden, B.C. have ratified a new collective agreement that includes gains for full and part-time employees.

Over the four-year agreement, MoveUP members will receive wage increases of 2.5 per cent in years one and two, and 2.75 per cent in years three and four.

“The wage increases in this agreement are comparable to what our members have received at some much larger credit unions. For a small credit union like CVCU, that’s an achievement,” said Union Representative Sarah Melsness.

The new agreement means MoveUP members at CVCU will see an improvement in their employer-paid RRSP contributions, to 10.25 per cent. For the first time, part-timers will also receive RRSP contributions. Finally, in addition to seeing Family Day recognized as a statutory holiday, members keep an extra floating vacation day they can take during the year.

“Credit unions were built to bring more fairness to banking and to give people in the community a voice. It’s great to see that at CVCU, MoveUP members who work there are a part of that,” Melsness said.
