Holiday Greetings and Happy New Year Message from President David Black

I join all of the Elected Officers and MoveUP staff in wishing our members and their families a very merry holiday season and all the best for the New Year.

MoveUP’s Social Events Committee co-ordinated some spectacular holiday events over the last few weeks. Vancouver and Victoria both held a breakfast with Santa for MoveUP members and their children, with face painting and balloons. Admission to the breakfast was a donation to the local food bank and a new toy for a Christmas charity. Members in Port Hardy were invited to the second annual Ice Skate with Santa. Our members were exceptionally generous and a good time full of seasonal cheer was had.

As we wind down 2011 and look to 2012 I would like to extend my sincere thanks for all of the hard work our members have done throughout the year. You work at some of the most respected and relied-upon institutions in BC and across Canada, and are responsible for so much success. Your employers owe you a debt of gratitude, and your union is honoured to represent you.

May you be surrounded by family and friends this holiday season.

David Black
President, MoveUP
