Surrey Vaisakhi Parade 2017

Happy Vaisakhi!

MoveUP wishes all of our members a happy and prosperous Vaisakhi!

Vaisakhi (also known as Baisakhi or Vaishakhi) celebrates two unique events.

It is the harvest festival in the Punjab region of India and is celebrated by Sikhs as the collective birthday of the “Khalsa Brotherhood” created by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, in 1699.

Vaisakhi is celebrated on the 14th of April annually. The festival coincides with many other new year festivals celebrated in other regions of the Indian Subcontinent.

B.C. is home to two of the largest and most colourful Vaisakhi parades in North America.

The 2018 Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade will take place on April 14 starting at 11 a.m. from the KDS Ross Sikh Temple at 8000 Ross Street in Vancouver.

The 2018 Surrey Vaisakhi Parade will take place the following Saturday on April 21 and will begin at 9:30 a.m. from the Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar Temple at 12885 85th Avenue in Surrey.
