2018 March On Vancouver

Dear Sisters, Brothers and Friends,

MoveUP Women’s Rights Committee encourages all our members to take part in March On Vancouver on January 20 in support of women’s rights.

Over 15,000 people took part in the women’s march held last January in downtown Vancouver in solidarity with a world-wide movement of grassroots resistance.

This year’s march will be one of positivity, inclusivity and diversity. The goal is to continue the fight against white nationalism, misogyny and xenophobia, and to reject the hate that damages those in our communities which includes not only women but as well as Muslims, Jews, racialized people, Indigenous people, migrants and those with precarious or no legal status, the LGBTQ community and the disabled.

The march will begin at Jack Poole Plaza and takes place on the unceded Coast Salish Territories xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh).

Remember to also use the hashtag #WeAreMarchOn on social media to show your support.

Similar marches are also scheduled to take place in cities across the country including Nanaimo and Kamloops.
