You’ve helped us champion Period Promise for 10 years! Can you step up again?
May 4, 2026
To: All MoveUP members
For the last 10 years, MoveUP members have helped us champion the United Way’s Period Promise campaign. Since the campaign first launched in conjunction with Tampon Tuesday, your contributions have been instrumental.
Together, we’ve supported people in our community, battling the stigma that often prevents people from seeking support, and eliminating barriers for those who face period poverty.
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the campaign, we’re inviting you to step up and be a champion once again!
Our MoveUP Women & Gender Rights Committee will be collecting products and financial donations for the entire month of May to support the Period Promise campaign.
There are 2 ways you can be a Period Promise champion:
- Make a financial donation through our MoveUP Women & Gender Rights Committee’s team page by clicking here.
- Organize a menstrual product collection at your workplace.
For members located in the Lower Mainland, please drop off your product donations no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at our MoveUP office located at:

What is period poverty?
Period poverty is not being able to afford or access menstrual products, along lacking proper sanitation and hygiene facilities. It also refers to the lack of education and awareness around menstrual health.
Period poverty has costs beyond just financial. It leads to health risks, including infections, and causes people to miss school, work, or other social events. When we don’t address period poverty or allow the stigma to persist, it intentionally leaves people out.
17% of people in Canada who menstruate have experienced period poverty.

What is the Period Promise campaign?
The Period Promise campaign tackles period poverty, helping to ensure everyone has access to the menstrual products they need.
The long-term goal is to ensure that free and accessible menstrual products across workplaces, community, and schools, breaking the stigma while building healthier and more inclusive communities. The campaign aims to eliminate barriers for people in our communities who can’t afford these necessities.
This issue isn’t just a women’s issue. It is an equity issue and an issue about creating inclusive spaces. We all have friends, family, and colleagues who may be affected by period poverty. This initiative is about helping people in our communities.
Your donation to the Period Promise campaign will help stock essential products where they are needed most, and support education and advocacy efforts to end period poverty for good.
