Victoria Shipyards – Tentative Agreement Reached at Mediation
April 26, 2022
To: MoveUP Members at Victoria Shipyards
Your union bargaining committee is excited to announce that we reached an improved tentative agreement with your employer on the evening of April 25, 2022.
The highlights of the new tentative agreement are as follows:
Wages:
March 1, 2021 2.5%
March 1, 2022 3.0%
March 1, 2023 3.0%
March 1, 2024 2.5%*
March 1, 2025 2.5%*
For the 2024 and 2025 years, COLA to a maximum of 3% remains, however, the trigger for COLA is now reduced from 2.7% to 2.6%. What this means is that if the Victoria all items CPI is 2.6% or more, you will receive that wage increase, up to a maximum of 3%.
In addition, all eligible current employees who worked between March 1, 2021 and February 28, 2022, will receive a ratification bonus as outlined below:
$750.00 for 1,200 hours or more of a combination of straight time and overtime hours
$500.00 for 1,199 hours or less of combination of straight time and overtime hours
There will be no ratification bonus for employees who worked less than a combined 160 straight time and overtime hours in that time period.
We were also able to achieve a reduction on the probationary language for the Labourers category which would see the probationary period remain the same when relating to their pay, and only the time for assessment of their probation period would increase to 720 hours in a nine (9) month period.
Details of the package can be viewed by clicking here.
Your bargaining committee worked hard, and pushed even harder, with the mediator, Trevor Sones, from the Labour Relations Board, in order to achieve this improved package. All of the unions were grateful with his assistance to get us to the point that we’re at today.
Information on the voting and a membership meeting will be coming out shortly.
Your bargaining committee is whole-heartedly recommending acceptance of this package.
In solidarity,
Yudon Garie
Union Representative
