UPDATE – COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate Policy
January 14, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at FortisBC
We have received numerous emails from members regarding some messaging that they have been receiving from the Company. Specifically related to the date for them to declare their status as to if they are vaccinated or not.
We have subsequently reached out to the Company, and it has confirmed that they will be readdressing this with managers that the date to declare status is in fact February 14, 2022. Subsequently the following information has also been confirmed.
Declare Vaccination Status
This is the day that a member will have to declare their vaccination status to the Company. The deadline for declaration of status is February 14, 2022.
Proof of Vaccination Status
The deadline for proof of vaccination is March 14, 2022.
This will mean that if a member does not declare proof of their vaccination status as of March 14, 2022, they will have to undergo the COVID19 testing twice a week if they wish to continue to work.
The Company will cover the cost of testing up to May 1, 2022 (or such other date thereafter as determined by FortisBC). After this date, the member will have to bear the cost.
If a member chooses not to declare their proof of vaccination and chooses not to undergo testing, they will be placed on an approved leave of absence without pay.
We will continue to update you as we receive confirmation and/or responses from the Company regarding the Section 54 – Adjustment plan as it relates to the COVID 19 Vaccination Mandate Policy, as we are still waiting responses.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your job steward.
In solidarity,
Cindy A. Lee, Union Representative
