Bargaining
TransLink – Bargaining Bulletin #1
September 22, 2023
To: All members at TransLink
Your bargaining committee would like to provide an update on negotiations.
We are working towards the final stages of having fully prepared proposals that will address the issues brought forward by the membership through the surveys and communications directly with your union.
We now have the benefit of seeing what the Unifor and MoveUP members at Coast Mountain Bus have achieved and we intend to use that information as well as any other intelligence to our advantage.
We know our members have worked hard to get TransLink back on track following the pandemic and we want to ensure that these contributions are recognized. Accordingly, we want to ensure that the proposals we put forward accurately represent the needs of the membership.
Once we have finalized the proposals and completed the internal MoveUP approval process we will schedule a meeting with the membership in order to provide an overview of what we will be seeking.
We are aware that our members want the best deal possible, and they want it as quickly as possible. We are committed to achieving these goals. To that end we have already discussed a compacted bargaining schedule with TransLink, and they are agreeable to that process.
Thank you to all members who have assisted with the bargaining preparation process so far and who have shown support for their bargaining committee. As we move forward in bargaining, membership support plays an increasingly important role as we work to emphasize the needs of our members.
As mentioned, your bargaining committee is determined to bring back the best possible recommended settlement as quickly as possible. Thanks again for your support and please watch for the meeting notice that will come out.
In Solidarity,
Jen Froese, Executive Councillor
Safar Alikhani, Executive Board Member
Andrew Cheverie, Union Representative
