Seaspan ULC – Tentative Agreement Reached

To: MoveUP Members at Seaspan ULC
Your union is pleased to announce that after more than a dozen meetings with your employer, the parties have reached a tentative agreement.

Highlights of the tentative agreement are:
- 6-year collective agreement (previous agreement expired on February 28, 2019)
- Wage increases, with full retroactivity, as follows:
March 1, 2019 2.3%
March 1, 2020 2.0%
March 1, 2021 2.0%
March 1, 2022 2.0%
March 1, 2023 2.0%
March 1, 2024 2.0%
- In addition to the wage increases noted above, should either the Canadian Merchant Service Guild, or the International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 400, achieve a more substantial wage increase, or the cost of living allowance (COLA) which is more than the percentage above in a respective year, MoveUP members will receive the same increase.
- Flat wage increase to the Receptionist position of $.50/hour, retroactive to March 1, 2019.
- Increase on recall period, from 6 months to 12 months, for members on LTD who become employable after more than 24 months of absence
- Removal of the restrictive timelines when applying for a promotion
- Vacation Payout option
The employer has indicated that if this agreement is ratified, they will endeavour to have the payouts for all retroactive amounts to all members prior to the holidays.
We will be sending you information in the coming days regarding the ratification meeting as well as electronic voting information.
Your union is recommending acceptance of this tentative agreement.
