Nimbus School of Recording & Media – Wage Decrease
January 25, 2023
To: All MoveUP members at Nimbus School of Recording & Media
We have been advised that some of you may have received an e-mail from the Employer advising that your wages will be decreased for the next semester as “Nimbus is in a troubled financial state and we need to promptly address the financial crisis.”
We met with the board-appointed mediation (read more here ) as we feel the Employer’s action violate Section 45(1.1) of the BC Labour Relations Code. The Board is in agreement and have requested the Employer to withdraw their e-mail.
The Parties are currently in a legislated freeze period during the mediation process, and the Employer is unable to make changes to the terms and conditions of your employment during this time, until mediation has concluded with a new tentative agreement for you to vote on, or the Board concludes the mediation process without a collective agreement by assigning an arbitrator to conclude the agreement or authorizing the Union to conduct a strike vote.
If you have received an e-mail advising of wage cuts, please forward me a copy at nbeausoleil@moveuptogether.ca.
We will be holding a membership meeting tomorrow to answer any questions you may have regarding bargaining so far and the mediation process, and discuss the outstanding issues at the table. The meeting will be held over Zoom, here are the details :
Date: Thursday, January 26, 2023
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you.
