FortisBC-CSC & FortisBC – Common Employer Application Update
June 30, 2022
To: MoveUP members at FortisBC-CSC & FortisBC
Back on May 26, 2022, we wrote to inform you that our union was awaiting a decision from the BC Labour Relations Board (LRB) on our common employer application to bring our members in the FortisBC Customer Services Centres (FortisBC-CSC) bargaining unit into the same collective agreement with those members in the FortisBC bargaining unit.
Unfortunately, LRB Vice-Chair Stephanie Drake has issued a bottom-line decision dismissing our application. We have requested a reasoning for the dismissal and will determine our next steps after reviewing the information.
The FortisBC-CSC collective agreement expired back on March 31, 2022. Until a newly negotiated collective agreement is achieved, both parties will continue to work under the terms and conditions of the expired agreement. We are currently checking for available dates for bargaining with the employer.
The FortisBC collective agreement expires on June 30, 2023. We do not have a timeframe at this moment on when we will be looking for bargaining dates.
We will continue to provide both bargaining units – FortisBC-CSC and FortisBC – with updates on upcoming bargaining as new information arises.
In solidarity,
April Young, Union Representative
