DA Townley – Workers Locked Out at Pacific Blue Cross

July 7, 2017

To: All MoveUP members at DA Townley

This morning, about 600 CUPE 1816 workers were locked out by Pacific Blue Cross. It is a callous manoeuvre aimed at pressuring them to accept concessions, including retirement benefits.

CUPE is standing strongly against any concessions and MoveUP stands with them. Our president, David Black, has written to the company expressing outrage over the lockout.

We urge you to show your support for our brothers and sisters who are now on the picket line outside Pacific Blue Cross.  They’ll be out there 24/7, so please stop by to show solidarity.  They’re located at the corner of Gilmore and Canada Way, near Willingdon. (Food and treats are appreciated.)

CUPE has always been an incredible support to MoveUP’s members. The union goes above and beyond for all workers fighting for justice. Our solidarity with CUPE is also an expression of our thanks.

In solidarity,

Cathy Hirani, Union Representative
