BCGEU – Bargaining Impasse – Benefits Comparison

August 6, 2021

To: All MoveUP Members at BCGEU

Thank you to all who were able to attend our recent general membership meetings regarding potential job action due to an impasse at the bargaining table. As you may know, one of the items your bargaining committee is fighting for is parity with the UWU benefit plan. Your committee has created a chart outlining the current benefits you all have, compared to the benefits of UWU. Click here to view chart.

We strongly believe that all employees of BCGEU should have access to the same benefits, regardless of which bargaining unit you belong to.

We will be starting the preparation work required for the upcoming strike vote, and will update you all with the final details soon. Just as a reminder, all voting will be done through the Member Portal and Simply Voting. If you have not yet registered, please do so as soon as possible so we are able to go back to your employer with a strong number letting them know that what they are offering is not good enough, and you are willing to stand together and fight for a collective agreement that values you all and the work you do.

In solidarity,

Doris Stowe Bargaining Committee member
Meaghan Morris Bargaining Committee member
Amy Turton Bargaining Committee member
Gagan Gill Bargaining Committee member
Carmen McChesney Bargaining Committee member

Cheryl Popeniuk Sr Union Rep
Christy Slusarenko VP Combined Units
