MoveUP Members at AMS: Get Involved In Your Union!

Hello, Alma Mater Society members!
With the fall semester just around the corner, the ratification of the Food & Beverage Component’s memorandum of understanding (click here to view), and collective bargaining set to commence in early 2027, there has never been a better time to get involved with your Union!
- By joining the Contract Enforcement Committee and becoming a Job Steward, you can help ensure that the terms described in the Collective Agreement (click here to view) and the MOU are enforced in your workplace. You will also learn how to effectively advocate for fair working conditions for you and your coworkers.
- By joining the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, you can help ensure that AMS is a safe and healthy place to work. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the laws and legislation that protect individuals in their workplaces.
- If you are a member in the food & beverage component, you can also join your outlet’s Tip Distribution Committee, where you can help shape the way tips are distributed among union members in your work area.

Note: The Union is aware of discrepancies regarding placement on the wage grid for members who have received a promotion in the last 36 months. We are in active discussions with the employer regarding this and are trying to rectify this as quickly as possible.
