ICBC – Bargaining Update #11: Getting closer to reaching an agreement
June 29, 2026
To: All MoveUP members at ICBC
Your bargaining committee met with ICBC again on June 22 and 23 to continue negotiations.
While there are still some issues that we remain far apart on, we are moving in a positive direction. We were able to get closer on many items, and both sides now have a firm understanding of each other’s priorities and bottom lines.
Maximizing our return for you
We know you are eagerly anticipating the general wage increase (3% per year, as per the public sector mandate) and for your retro pay. Your bargaining committee shares that anticipation.
We also know that it’s important for us not to leave money on the table.
We are working hard to ensure that we get access to the full amount available under the flexible/supplemental allocation. This represents 0.5% of the total annual salaries within the ICBC bargaining unit. That might not seem like a lot, but it translates into millions of dollars per year for you.
This allocation would be used for things such as increases to benefits coverage, collective agreement improvements that have a monetary cost, as well as money for new and renewing initiatives.
The items we are prioritizing are the ones you told us about either in our pre-bargaining survey, through emails, or through conversations.
Upcoming dates
It is important to us that we achieve the best possible deal for you, so we appreciate your patience as we inch closer to the finish line.
We have added additional bargaining dates on July 27 and 28, which means we have 8 more upcoming bargaining dates on the calendar through August.
We will continue to keep you updated as we make progress. As always, your committee can be reached at icbcbarg@moveuptogether.ca.
