Variance Agreement Reached Bringing in Digital Fulfillment Members into the Yellow Pages Collective Agreement
June 18, 2026
To: All MoveUP Members at Yellow Pages
As most of you know, employees in Yellow Pages Digital Fulfillment signed union cards and were certified as bargaining unit members on August 18, 2025.
Background
The BC Labour Relations Board ruled, per the Union’s request, that the new members be varied into the existing collective agreement MoveUP has with its members who are sales representatives.
Because, our new Digital Fulfillment members have different roles and responsibilities than our members who have sales roles and responsibilities, the Union and the Employer needed to meet to discuss how to negotiate a variance transition agreement.
Negotiations
The Union and the Employer had several meetings in the fall of 2025 and in the spring of 2026. For the most part, the negotiations and discussions were frank, professional, and productive.
We agreed that most of the collective agreement applied and where we needed to make some adjustments, we were able to do so such as the inclusion of Digital Fulfillment members’ hours of work, which were obviously not in the current collective agreement.
New Digital Fulfillment members’ seniority, service, benefits, vacation, and sick leave are exactly what they were before they joined the Union.
Here is the link to the variance Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Wage Increase Dispute
The main delay in signing off the variance agreement was the issue of wage increases. Non-union employees received a 3.0% wage increase, which occurred post-certification.
The Union insisted that our new Digital Fulfillment members should also receive this wage increase because had they not certified, they would have received the 3.0% wage increase.
Unfortunately, we were not able to convince the Employer to provide this increase, and because the new Digital Fulfillment members joined the existing collective agreement, we have limited legal options to force the Employer to do so.
The Union served notice that we would be seeking this 3.0% increase and more in the upcoming round of bargaining.
Impact on Existing Sales Employees
For our current sales members, the addition of your Digital Fulfillment colleagues will assist you in collective bargaining as we are now a larger group of employees.
The variance agreement does not take away any existing rights or benefits you currently enjoy under the collective agreement.
Next Steps
With the variance agreement signed off, the Union will be seeking members who wish to sit on the bargaining committee, and we will be sending out a bargaining survey to canvass what issues are most important to you.
