MoveUP is proud to endorse Richmond’s Milly Yee and Victoria’s Shona Dion in their respective municipalities as part of the 2026 BC municipal elections.
Milly Yee, who is running with the Richmond Citizens Association slate as a city councillor, is an active volunteer within her local community and her union. At MoveUP, she has taken on many roles including being a job steward, where she supports her fellow colleagues helping them navigate workplace issues and speaking to management, and being an elected executive councillor, where she is responsible for reviewing and approval major financial decisions made by our union.
Milly also serves on multiple committees, making space for more people to feel connected to their union and connecting people to important resources.
Shona, who is running for city councillor as an independent, is a job steward and an elected executive councillor with our union. She is also a vocal advocate for workers’ rights and very active with the Victoria Labour Council, where she supports many community initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity, equity, and making people feel safe and welcome.
Shona is also a frequent contributor to our union’s member magazine and other publications, helping create a stronger community by sharing the diverse stories of people who belong to our union. She has also successfully completed the Labour College of Canada certificate program, which has deepened her knowledge of the issues of working people in Canada and developed her leadership skills within the labour movement.
