Dollar-Thrifty and Hertz YVR-Bargaining and Ratification Meeting Update – June 2026

To: All MoveUP members at Dollar-Thrifty and Hertz YVR
As indicated in an earlier bulletin, your Bargaining Committee met on May 7, 2026, and after about 12 hours of bargaining, we concluded a tentative agreement. After some delays in getting the remaining proposals signed off by the employer, we are ready to have membership meetings to discuss the tentative agreement.
Your committee is pleased with the result and the improvements we made. Highlights of the tentative agreement include:
- increased number of job stewards and union representation
- shared commitment on fair and reasonable approach to employer rights
- housekeeping and clarifications to the grievance procedure
- improved right of representation
- improved job description to better accurately reflect current practices and to better reflect roles and responsibilities
- improvements to the floating holiday scheduling including an option to elect for the day to be paid out in Article 23.02
Monetary Improvements
- 3 Year agreement
Drivers—Effective Nov 1, 2026
- significant low-wage redress for drivers that far exceeds what was bargained at Avis
- wage increases structured differently to provide larger increases
-Year 4 will be $26.19 by end of agreement 24.5% increase
-Effective Nov. 1, 2026—$2.30-$2.65 per hour increase depending on years of service
All Other Categories
- Nov 1 2025 to Oct 31 2026 4.00%
- Nov 1 2026 to Oct 31 2027 4.00%
- Nov 1 2027 to Oct 31 2028 5.00%
- Long-service recognition of $0.35 per hour for employees with 20 years of service to be added to their hourly rate and subject to the above wage increases
Benefit Improvements
- short-term disability ($729/week up from $250/week)
- life insurance (doubled)
- accidental death and dismemberment (doubled)
- improvements to child orthodontics
- $150 work equipment
- updated Employment Standards Act language on sick leave
- improved vacation accrual
Your bargaining committee is strongly recommending ratification of the tentative agreement.
