MacLure’s Cabs – Fighting back against your employers’ attempt to contract out your work

To: All MoveUP members at MacLure's Cabs
Dear members,
I am writing to provide an update with our union’s efforts to protect your work from being contracted out by your employer.
We recently met with your employer to discuss the upcoming layoffs, which, as you are aware, are set to take effect on May 1. Following that meeting, we filed a grievance regarding the contracting out of our members’ work.
Under Section 54 of the BC Labour Code, your employer is obligated to schedule a meeting to discuss possible adjustment plans that both parties can agree upon. As of this writing, no such meeting has been scheduled.
We are committed to defending the good paying jobs that we have fought hard to negotiate for you over the years. We understand that this is an extremely difficult and stressful time for everyone, and we appreciate your committed support and solidarity. We will continue to advocate on your behalf and keep you informed of any developments as they arise.
