Beem Credit Union – Updates
February 4, 2025
To: All MoveUP members at Beem Credit Union
Dear members of Beem Credit Union,
Site Visits
In the last month, your union has been making site visits across the lower mainland to meet with our bargaining unit members. The visits were well received and resulted in many positive interactions with not only our members, but local management. Further site visits will follow this month, and more site visits will be scheduled later in the year. We ask our members to please be diligent in reporting any issues to the union and if there are any members interested in becoming a Job Steward to please reach out to your union representative.
Member Hub LOU
The union and employer have reached an agreement on the contents of the Letter of Understanding (LOU). However, what remains are the final wage placements for each of our members. Since our tentative agreement, the employer has provided the union with their wage scale placement proposal. Your union rejected the employer’s proposal as it would have contradicted the LOU agreement in ensuring no members would get anything less than what they are currently receiving. Your union has responded to the employer with what we feel is the appropriate placement for our members. Your union is waiting for a response from the employer. Your union will provide further updates when available.
Blueshore Financial merger
MoveUP supports a diverse and large number of credit unions across British Columbia. BEEM is one of those Credit Unions of which we support forty-six employees over eight different branches in the lower mainland. Within the financial industry, mergers between financial institutions occur to strengthen a company’s business. On January 1, 2025, BEEM merged with Blueshore Financial. This expansion of business will not affect our bargaining unit work or the integrity of our superior contract. However, as BEEM’s business expands, our union members may cross paths with non-bargaining unit members in the course of their duties. We encourage our members to work with the Blueshore staff and show them the strength and benefits of your union. There is strength in numbers. Your union is prepared to advocate for more BEEM employees and to negotiate better working conditions for you and those who share the same vision.
In Solidarity,
Ronnie Ho
Union Representative
