Members of our Human Rights & Multicultural Committee will be taking part in the May 17 rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza at 5:30 p.m as part of the National Rainbow Week of Action (May 11 to 17).
Queer advocates and allies across Canada are mobilizing through a National Rainbow Week of Action to urge governments and elected officials at every level to advance rainbow equality and address rising hate. Canada should be a country where everyone is free and equal.
We hope you will join us to stand up and support 2SLGTBQIA+ people who are your friends, family, neighbours, and coworkers.

What is the National Rainbow Week of Action?
The National Rainbow Week of Action, led by the Society of Queer Momentum, takes place from May 11 to 17.
The goal of Rainbow Week of Action is to push governments and elected officials at every level to take action for Rainbow Equality and address rising anti-2SGLTBQIA+ hate.As union members, work colleagues, and labour activists, we are at our strongest when we stand up for one another especially in times of need. An attack on one is an attack on all.
Sadly, we have seen anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate on the rise across Canada, and it is up to all of us as allies to speak up and stand with those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community so they know they are welcome and deserve to be free and safe.
How you can help
There are many ways you can help support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through this campaign and beyond. We hope you will be able to join us on May 17 at the rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
If you can’t make it, there are many other ways you can demonstrate your solidarity. Visit rainbowequality.ca/takeaction to see the many different methods you can be an ally including:
- Making a donation to support actions, events and campaigns
- Sending a letter to your Member of Parliament
- Participate in a rally in your community
- Amplify advocacy efforts on social media
