Leading the Way: Women Shaping the Future of the Labour Movement.
March 1, 2024
T0: All MoveUP members in the Lower Mainland
Every year on March 8 we observe International Women’s Day. This year, for IWD, we are excited to see the return of the Vancouver & District Labour Council’s annual IWD dinner.
As part of work to continue supporting women’s rights and the work of our labour community, our union’s Women & Gender Rights Committee has purchased a table for 10 at the IWD dinner and we want to offer our self-identifying women members to have the opportunity to attend.
You will have the opportunity to join MoveUP Executive Board member Dawn Lentsch, who represents the Labour component, at our MoveUP table for a great evening filled with delicious food and hear inspiring stories from current women union leaders and celebrate women.
When: Friday, March 8, 2024. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., buffet dinner served at 5:30 p.m. with welcoming and panel starting at 7 p.m.
Where: Fraserview Hall, 8240 Fraser St. Vancouver
Tickets: Will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please email Kat Prinz at kprinz@moveuptogether.ca to reserve your ticket no later than end of day on Wednesday, March 6.
Guest speakers include:
Sussanne Skidmore – President, BC Federation of Labour
Karen Ranalletta – President, CUPE BC
Barb Nederpel – President, Hospital Employees Union
Louella Vincent – President, New Westminster & District Labour Council
Wakenniosta Cooper – IBEW Local 213
The emcee for the event is Joey Hartman, Past President of the VDLC.
Whether it’s in our communities or in our workplaces, this year’s IWD encourages us to continue the work to make the world more inclusive and equitable for women.
