Job Steward Education – 2023 Fall/Winter Schedule

To: All MoveUP Job Stewards, Executive Councillors, and Executive Board Members
We are pleased to announce our Fall/Winter schedule for in-person and online classes of our Job Steward Level One and Job Steward Level Two courses!
The new and improved JS1 and JS2 will cover topics of advocacy, history and organizing, along with an introduction to the requirements for handling grievances. With these courses, you will learn about key moments in the Canadian labour movement, about out union and about our collective power as union members.
Remember, to attend our three-day Job Steward Seminar, scheduled for March 2024 at Harrison Hot Springs Resort, stewards must have completed JS1 and JS2.
Job Steward Level One – Online
September 26, 28, October 3 and 5 – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Register here. Maximum 40 participants
This course is open to all job stewards.
This course is ideal for new job stewards who are eager to learn and grow into their position of job steward. You will learn about union and the labour movement and will start to learn about the grievance process and the importance of the steward in our workplaces.
NB. You must complete all four days to receive your certificate of completion.
Job Steward Level Two – Online
October 17, 19, 24 and 26 – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Register here. Maximum 40 participants
This course is the follow-up to Job Steward Level One. You will expand your knowledge and confidence in your roll as steward as you learn some of the more complex labour relations topics that stewards face.
NB. You must complete all four days to receive your certificate of completion. Prerequisite course: Job Steward Level One.
Job Steward Level One – MoveUP office 301-4501 Kingsway, Burnaby November 4- 9 a.m-4:30 p.m. and November 5 – 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.(noon)
