Nimbus School of Recording & Media-Bargaining Update and Meeting Details

In our last update, we provided a rough timeline on when we can expect the mediator’s report to the Associate Chair. We’ve since received the mediator’s report, and submitted to the Labour Board that the mediator’s report needed to be considered in conjunction with another unfair labour practice complaint that we filed in regards to the employer’s conduct during bargaining, including the recent wage cut. We met with the Associate Chair of adjudication and mediation, Brett Matthews, in regards to the merits and substance of our complaint on Wednesday, March 15. The Associate Chair proposed abeyance of adjudication of the complaint until the employer disclosed the relevant financial documentation as they are required to under the Code. The Associate Chair referred the matter of the release of that information back to the appointed mediator Fuzz Bhimji, and to determine whether or not an agreement between the parties would be possible upon release of that information.
While the complaint is still pending, and in anticipation that we will likely not see much movement on the employer’s position returning to mediation, we’ll be moving forward with a meeting to discuss job action and an upcoming strike vote.
