Bargaining
BCH & Powertech – Bargaining Update #6 – Non-Monetary Discussion
November 9, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at BCH & Powertech
Your bargaining committee met with BC Hydro on November 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and have scheduled another three days this month. We began our discussions by examining the proposals your employer tabled so we could understand what their desires were.
We focused our attention on non-monetary proposals, as well as amending the memorandum of understanding #83, allowing seasonal employees to progress through the wage steps. The parties discussed work-life balance, workload, scheduling, casual employment, respectful workplace, the opening of new call center(s), standby language, dispute resolution process and MOU 15. Conversations on these topics are in preliminary stages and remain ongoing.
Additionally, we also had a lengthy discussion with BC Hydro regarding MOU #85 and casual employment. We are committed to addressing the concerns of members under MOU 85 and addressing the workload issues for all MoveUP members. The committee has yet to submit its counterproposal to MOU 85 and we reserve the right to do this during our monetary discussions.
Conversations regarding monetary proposals, or proposals that have costs associated with them including benefits and other entitlements, have not been discussed. This will occur after further discussion regarding the non-monetary proposals has happened. We will update you after November 15, which is our last day of negotiations this month.
In solidarity,
