“The Truth is hard. Reconciliation is harder.” – Thursday, December 9 on Zoom
December 1, 2021
To: All MoveUP members
The Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre of Windsor, and the Windsor & District Labour Council, welcome interested participants to join them on Thursday, December 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Pacific Time) for a Zoom Community Event featuring The Honourable Murray Sinclair, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, as the keynote speaker.
The talk is titled: The Truth is hard. Reconciliation is harder. The event is free but registration is required.
In this keynote, The Honourable Murray Sinclair reminds us that reconciliation is not an act of forgiving past wrongs. It is a process of dismantling the ongoing colonial relationship that treats Indigenous people as less than human. It is not a matter of benevolence or charity. It is a matter of respect and rights.
His Honour has served as chair of the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), was the first Indigenous judge appointed in Manitoba, and recently retired from the Canadian Senate.
Date: Thursday, December 9, 2021
