TST-CF – Update on the TST-CF union vote process
June 7, 2021
To: TST-CF
We wanted to thank all of you who have reached out to us since the voting closed.
We are still waiting to hear back from the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). We want to know the outcome as much as you do but, unfortunately, we have no control over the process of the ballots being counted.
We have appealed to the CIRB to begin the counting sooner, but the delay has been a result of the employer protesting and appealing whether some of the ballots should be counted.
When will we find out?
It is in the hands of CIRB to decide whether they choose to start the count of all uncontested ballots, or they will go through the process of reviewing all the submissions and going through the hearing process to determine the eligibility of all ballots before counting them.
Unfortunately, this process could take months.
What happens in the meantime?
For now, until there is an outcome one way or another, everything remains as status quo. However, we do invite any of the prospective members who are not formally part of our union yet to contact us if they have any workplace concerns, including if they are experiencing any workplace harassment or intimidation because of the union vote.
As our contact list is limited, and your employer does not allow for us to use your work email addresses to contact you, we are relying on our members to ensure this message gets out to as many people as possible. If you know a non-union member who participated in the vote and would like to make sure they are on our mailing list, please ask them to email mnovak@moveuptogether.ca.
Thank you so much for your patience during this time. We will let you know as soon as we receive a result, or if there are any updates in the process.
In solidarity,
Mike Novak
Union Representative
