Teamsters Local 155 – Bargaining Update #4
March 5, 2020
To: All MoveUP members at Teamsters Local 155
The Parties held a conference call with Brett Matthews, Vice Chair of the British Columbia Labour Relations Board (BCLRB) on March 3, 2020.
The call was regarding the Section 11 application, bargaining in bad faith that the Union had submitted on December 17, 2019. In attendance for the Employer was Mr. Theo Arsenault, legal council.
The Vice Chair had reviewed the Parties submissions and was seeking clarification regarding two areas of disagreement between the Parties.
Vice Chair Matthews noted that failing any agreement on the areas of disagreement, a hearing would be necessary and suggested a one-day hearing be held in March on either the 16th or the 23rd. Mr. Arsenault was adamant that he needed three days to hear the case in order to present facts that do not bare any relevance to the Section 11 complaint.
Although your Union was available for these dates, Mr. Arsenault indicated he would not be available for the suggested dates and the earliest he would be available would be in May.
In the meantime, Vice Chair Matthews suggested that the parties reach out to Mediator Grant McArthur to see if we can resolve this issue prior to the May hearing.
The Union held a phone call with Mediator McArthur on March 4, 2020 and have provided availability in the next two weeks in order to meet with the Employer in order to move the Parties forward.
