Teamsters Local 155 – Bargaining Update – BCLRB – Section 78

To: All MoveUP Members at Teamsters Local 155
On February 6, 2020 your employer filed a Section 78, last offer vote, at the BC Labour Relations Board (BCLRB).
Your union responded to the employer’s request for a last offer vote by objecting to the vote taking place until our Section 11, bad faith bargaining application, is adjudicated. However, if the vote was to proceed, we requested that the BCLRB seal the ballot box until the bad faith bargaining complaint is adjudicated. Attached is our objection to the BCLRB.
Today we received notification from the BCLRB confirming that the ballot box will remain sealed until the Section 11 is complete. Attached is the notification from the BCLRB.
Additionally, your employer is required to send a notice of poll to the BCLRB in order to have the vote conducted by them. To date, there has been no notice of poll sent by the employer.
We will be proceeding with the meeting on Thursday, February 13, 2020 as per our meeting notice. April Young is the chair of your bargaining committee. Casey Roberts and Dawn Lentsch are members of the bargaining committee and although we value their input, neither one has control over the bargaining process. We are working together to achieve the best and most equitable collective agreement without going on strike or being locked out.
It is unclear to your union what you are being asked to vote for as none of the previously agreed to items form part of the employer’s last offer vote package. Therefore, we are in the process of contacting your employer for clarification.
As a petition was signed and sent by all the members it is important that you attend the meeting on Thursday to be heard, for clarification and to understand the process.
