CLC Winter School – 2019

To: All MoveUP Job Stewards, Executive Councillors and Executive Board Members
MoveUP, through the Education Committee, is offering to job stewards, executive councillors, and executive board members, an opportunity to attend the 2019 Winter School Labour Education, held by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
Your MoveUP vice-presidents will be selecting participants who did not attend last year and preference may be given to those who have taken or taught a labour related course. Participant selection will be on the basis of a demonstrated commitment to union involvement with MoveUP as a volunteer, previous MoveUP or CLC labour courses taken, and how your knowledge or commitment could be of use to the membership. Successful applicants will be required to prepare a report about the course they attended.
Week-long CLC courses commence the week of Sunday, January 13, 2019 and continue each week, concluding the week starting Sunday, February 10, 2019. Each course runs Sunday to Friday and wages, any applicable travel, as well as room and board, are paid by MoveUP. To apply for Winter School, please complete, in full, the attached application form and return it to MoveUP by fax (604-299-8211) or by email to ygarie@moveuptogether.ca. Applications to attend one of the courses listed must be received in the union office by 4:30pm on Friday, October 19, 2018. There are some courses offered which MoveUP feels may not suitable for our membership. Please indicate your course choice based on the attached course list. Course descriptions for the 2019 Winter School will be available on the CLC website by clicking on the applicable week. The courses listed are subject to change so please ensure you indicate 3 different course choices and which week you would like to attend on the application form.
Please contact the union office prior to the deadline to confirm receipt of your application. Late applications will not be considered.
Selection of applicants will be made in early November and all applicants will be advised if they were successful or not, shortly thereafter.
